The people of God walked in the desert
But someone walked ahead of them
The people of God were rich in nothing
They only had hope and the dust of the road

I am also your people, Lord
And I am on this road
Only your grace
Is enough for me and nothing else

The people of God also faltered
Sometimes it was hard to believe in love
The people of God, crying, prayed
Asking for forgiveness and starting over

The people of God also hungered
And you sent them bread from heaven
The people of God, giving thanks while singing
Tasted your love, your love that never fades

The people of God, from afar, saw
The beloved land that love prepared
The people of God ran and sang
And in their praises, proclaimed your power

I am also your people, Lord
And I am on this road
Every day closer
To the awaited land
