La Leyenda

The Legend
Tell me, ocean, where do they go
The people who have left
Tell me, horizon,
If they hide behind you
Tell me, stars,
If you know my grandma
I was told as a kid: She went to heaven
Tell me, folks up there,
If they found my grandpa
And if they’ve heard his verses and his stories
Where do they go? Where did they go?
Where are they? I can’t see them
The legend says they never left
That they stayed inside
That if I look in the mirror, I find them
The legend says nothing was in vain
I keep them here locked away
For the rest of my life, I won’t forget
Neither their voice nor their departure
And the sun told me it already heard
My uncle’s jokes
That he sang with his guitar
That I’ll find him with my cousins
The stars told me
That they know my grandma
To look at my mom and there she is
The folks up there told me
My grandpa slipped away
He got into my heart singing a verse
That says
Where do they go? Where did they go?
I know where they are, I carry them here
The legend says they never left
That they stayed inside
That if I look in the mirror, I find them
The legend says nothing was in vain
I keep them here locked away
For the rest of my life, I won’t forget
Hey!
Let’s go!
The legend says they never left
That they stayed inside
That if I look in the mirror, I find them
The legend says nothing was in vain
We keep them well locked away
For the rest of our lives, we won’t forget
For the rest of my life, I won’t forget
Neither their voice nor their departure
