Nuestro Día (Ya Viene Llegando)
Willy Chirino
Our Day (It's Coming Soon)
Just a kid back in the Antilles
My dad dressed me up like a sailor
I had to sail 90 miles
And start my life as a foreigner
Running from the sickle and the olive green
Escaping that ridiculous ideology
'Cause I never wanted to be an appetizer
Of hate, resentment, and apathy
In my suitcase, I brought a hummingbird
A book by Martí, a dream, and a danzón
Beny Moré snuck in as a stowaway
Along with the Matamoros and Cuní
I brought a palm tree and a hut
And even relocated Pinar del Río
To my humble place of lodging
On 12th Avenue in the South West
Eh, eh
That's where the harsh reality began, oh God!
For anyone who takes the plunge
To survive outside their language
Their customs and their identity
What had to happen happened
I took shelter in my new city
'Cause resignation is a faithful friend
To a man when he has to emigrate
And despite the distance and the attack
Of the rigid calendar, I live with the luck
Of feeling Cuban until death
Of being a lover of freedom
Today, as my people live in hope
I feel inspired and I'm singing a tune
Announcing to all my brothers
That our day is coming soon
Oh, oh
It's coming soon
Oh, oh
It's coming soon
Everyone's waiting for it
It's coming soon
Oh, beautiful and precious Cuba
It's coming soon
'Cause we are a people that sings along
It's coming soon
I want to see my flag fly, Cuba is waiting for us
I'm gonna sing my heartfelt song
It's coming soon
In the gazebo of the park and Consolation
It's coming soon
Every day I love you more, my beautiful Cuba, I love you more
It's coming soon
From San Antonio to Maisí, through Maceo and Martí
It's coming soon
