Rancho do Meu Pai
Raiz Brasileira
My Father's Ranch
On my father's old ranch
I learned humility and respect
The stove burning wood
Warming my heart
The rooster crowing at dawn
Life coming to the yard
And my father on his old guitar
Bringing light to the cold night
My dear father's ranch
Time has taken it away
But it lives on in my heart
Like roots that never fade
My father's beloved ranch
My memories still remain
Even though it's fallen into the world
It stands tall in peace
Today, where there used to be a mango tree
There is noise and light
I close my eyes and return
To that old longing
Coffee brewed on the stove
Gentle conversation in the kitchen
And father calling the family
To gather for prayer
My dear father's ranch
Time has taken it away
But it lives on in my heart
Like roots that never fade
My beloved father's ranch
My memories still bring it back
Even though it has fallen in the world
It remains standing in peace
If progress has paved the way
It has not taken my prayer
I keep the ranch in my memory
Like a song and a tradition
And every note I play
On the guitar he gave me
Is a portrait of that ranch
And of the father who lives in me
