Estrada de Chão e Saudade
Raiz Brasileira
Road of Earth and Longing
I stepped once again on the red earth
That once marked my destiny
The smell of rain on the ground reminded me
Of the times when I was a boy
The rooster crowing in the yard
Seems to call the past
And I continue to slowly ride my horse
With a tight chest, tired
Dirt road, companion of faith
You keep the secrets of time and the earth
You take the cowboy back home
With his worn hat and his heart in his hand
Mother, you still pray for me at the altar
Even though I am far from your longing
Today I return to embrace you
On the dirt road and longing
How many cattle herds I left behind
And how many promises to return as well
The world is beautiful, but too far away
For those whose roots are there at the foot of the beyond
The old gate still waits for me
Creaking like my heart
The ranch is small, but all I want
Is to smell the stove again
Dirt road, companion of faith
You keep the secrets of time and the earth
You take the cowboy back home
With his worn hat and his heart in his hand
Mother, you still pray for me at the altar
Even though I am far from your longing
Today I return to embrace you
On the dirt road of longing
I know that time has passed quickly
But the hinterland remained within me
Between a cow call and a deep sigh
I learned that life is like this
Now I rest my tired spurs
In the same yard where everything was born
The world is a long and wet road
But the end
Of it is your lap
