Today I Walked
Today I walked, painting the city with gestures of peace
In my pocket, a poem from years ago to release
I’ve always noticed, your art is a vinyl that plays by the pier
Your fire is a wick that ignites what’s near
My fire saw you, catching each sign clear
But the way I miss you, it’s too much for me
The way I miss you, it’s too much for me
But the way I miss you, it’s too much for me
The way I miss you, it’s too much for me
Let me go, set me free
Life’s guard, rebuild me
Freedom satisfies, makes me feel alive
Free lips always bring a new way to survive
I watch you smile
Simple, beautiful, yet wild
Your gestures, unique and styled
And softly, I see myself walking in light
Painting poems on hearts in plain sight
Singing from my chest all I’ve felt
Breaking the antennas of illusions held
Recognizing love in life’s essence spelled
Dancing through verses of beautiful songs
From blank pages, this was born all along
From my heart, I wrote
And so close, in affection’s embrace
I found myself whole in that gentle place
Today I walked, painting the city with gestures of peace
In my pocket, a poem from years ago to release
I’ve always noticed, your art is a vinyl that plays by the pier
Your fire is a wick that ignites what’s near
My fire saw you, catching each sign clear
But the way I miss you, it’s too much for me
The way I miss you, it’s too much for me
But the way I miss you, it’s too much for me
The way I miss you, it’s too much for me
But what can I do
If your choice is to live
This way
