Every morning she walks
Through a long alley
A lovely country girl
Singing a song

With two jet-black braids
And a pair of eyes like the Sun
Red like the quishcaloro
Her divine lips are

They call her the little turtle dove
For her sentimental voice
Because she sings vidalas
When carnival arrives

Today the little turtle dove doesn't sing
Those love verses
Her boyfriend was taken
To fulfill the conscription

The alley is sad
Her voice is no longer heard
Her eyes lose their sparkle
Her cheeks their splendor
