Flieg, Flieg In Die Sonne
Udo Jürgens
Fly, Fly Into The Sun
A bird floats so still and large in the summer day
How effortlessly his wing beat carries and lifts him
Nothing that blocks his way
No limit to hold him
Nothing that excites us here seems important to him
He sits on the slope in the summer grass early in the morning
Watching the birds for hours and drawing them
Nothing that deters him
That humans will one day fly
His longing carries him up
Fly fly fly into the Sun
Fly fly fly to freedom
Which no one destroys
Because heaven belongs to dreamers
Up on the hill he stands to the mockery of the world
Turns his wings to the wind and starts running, but he falls
Laughing he says you'll see
One day it will work
In him is a longing that sings
Fly fly fly into the Sun
Fly fly fly to freedom
Which no one destroys
Because heaven belongs to dreamers
It is said that he had an accident on the last flight
However, this is only approximately true
He just didn't come back
Fly, fly
Fly to freedom
Which no one destroys
Because heaven belongs to dreamers
