El fin y el medio
Jorge Drexler
The End and the Means
A refugee is a refugee
A child is a child
And fear is fear
Exile is exile
And hypocrisy is hypocrisy
There’s no sign, no side
No ideology or mystery
There’s not a single end that justifies any means
A harm is a harm
From the verb to harm
All harms are central harms
A child is a child
Collateral damage doesn’t exist
There’s no goal, no cause
No reason, no reward
There’s not a single end that justifies any means
The end is a point forever distant
A shifting fiction
A cyclone at the mercy of a leaf
A paradox like Zeno’s
Where something seems to be getting closer
And always escapes, always hides
Always at the exact same distance
From the same horizon
The finger that pulls the trigger
Should know this
There are no yours, no theirs, no mine
If they’re children, they’re ours
(All children are ours)
No homeland, no creed
No differences in opinion
There’s not a single end that justifies any means
There’s not a single end that justifies any means
There’s not a single end that justifies any means
There’s not a single end that justifies any means
