Pucherito de Gallina
Edmundo Rivero
Little Chicken
At twenty springs, I came to the city
My debut was at Corrientes and Maipú
With bold guys and a breeze by my side
That’s where I wanted to burn my youth
That’s where I learned what it means to be a wild one
They taught me to never miss a chance
I built a messy and sentimental life
And among other things, I took to singing
Cabaret stumble
It was the endless routine
Little chicken, with cheap old wine
Cabaret, a fling
A love on every corner
Some wait for the girl
To have some hot chocolate
Others with pastries and mate
Or a quick escape to the pad
I sang at the old variety show at Parque Goal
And in the dance halls of Bajo Leandro Alem
Where girls from good homes would show up
With those other girls from not-so-good homes
At twenty springs, I came to the city
My debut was at Corrientes and Maipú
Years have passed and I can’t find
The warmth of home, family, and youth
