El Emigrante
Antonio Molina
The Emigrant
I have to make a rosary
With your ivory teeth
So I can kiss it
When I'm far from you
On its divine beads
Made with mother-of-pearl and jasmine
I will pray for protection
From the one who is in Sai
Goodbye my beloved Spain
Inside my soul I carry you
Even though I'm an emigrant
I will never be able to forget you in my life
When I left my land
I turned my tearful face
Because what I loved the most
I was leaving behind
I carried with me
My Virgin of San Gil
A memory and a sorrow
And a rosary of ivory
Goodbye my beloved Spain
Inside my soul I carry you
Even though I'm an emigrant
I will never be able to forget you in my life
I am a poor emigrant
And I bring to this foreign land
In my chest a banner
With the joy of Spain
With my homeland and my girlfriend
And my Virgin of San Gil
And my rosary of beads I would like to die
