La Balsa
Zully Murillo
The Raft
It comes to my memory and I bear witness
Floating on a raft I saw a married couple
A huge raft was coming down the river
And the children ran happily, shouting
Here comes the raft
Here comes the raft
Here comes the raft
Here comes the raft
Parents of the bride and groom, relatives and friends
Godmothers and godfathers and pageboys
The bride is beautiful dressed in white
With veil and crown, shyness, modesty
The groom dressed in black cloth and white shirt
Rice for luck is watered and cheers are heard
Long live the bride and groom!
Long live the bride and groom!
Long live the bride and groom!
Long live the bride and groom!
A shawm and a thousand guests
In the large room they are gathering
Aguardiente or biche until dawn
Pigs, chickens, turkeys or delicacies, that touches calf
Let it be a calf's touch
Long live the party!
Let it be a calf's touch
Three days of celebration
The dance is over and a thousand white handkerchiefs
They say goodbye to the bride and groom and go to their ranch
In a ranched canoe dressed in flowers
And the young girls sigh with love
There goes the canoe
There goes the canoe
There goes the canoe
There goes the canoe
There goes the canoe
There goes the canoe
