Москва - Одесса (moskva - odessa)
Vladimir Vysotsky
Moscow - Odessa
Here I go again, Moscow, Odessa
They’re holding up the flight once more
And here comes the stewardess in blue, like a princess
Reliable, like the whole commercial fleet
Over Murmansk, not a cloud in sight
And I could fly straight to Ashgabat right now
Kiev, Kharkiv, Chisinau are open
And Lviv's open too, but I don’t need to go there
They told me: don’t hope for today
Don’t count on the skies above
And here we go again, they’re delaying the flight to Odessa
Now, the runway’s iced over
And in Leningrad, the roof’s leaking
And why can’t I fly to Leningrad?
In Tbilisi, it’s all clear, it’s warm
Tea grows there, but I don’t need to go there
I hear the folks from Rostov are taking off
But I need to get to Odessa, damn it
But I need to go where I’m not welcomed
And that’s why they keep delaying the flight
I need to be where the snow’s piled high
Where they’re expecting a snowstorm tomorrow
Let it be bright and clear somewhere
It’s nice there, but I don’t need to go there
They won’t let me out from here, and they won’t take me there
It’s unfair, it’s sad for me, but here we are
The stewardess invites us to board, bored
Accessible, like the whole commercial fleet
They opened the farthest corner
Where no one would lure you with rewards
The closed port of Vladivostok is open
Paris is open, but I don’t need to go there
We’ll take off, the weather will clear, they’ll lift the bans
The liner’s tensed up, I hear the turbines scream
But I don’t believe in anything anymore, they won’t take me
There will always be a million reasons
I need to be where the blizzards and fog are
Where they’re expecting a snowstorm tomorrow
London, Delhi, Magadan are open
They’ve opened everything, but I don’t need to go there
I’m right, whether I cry or laugh, but again the flight’s delayed
And it’s taking us back to the past
The stewardess, Miss Odessa, so graceful
Resembles the whole commercial fleet
Again they’re delaying until eight
And the citizens obediently fall asleep
I’m fed up with this, damn it
And I’m flying to where they’ll accept me
