In the beginning, with God
There was the word
It was life in fullness
He made the world out of nothing
And, showing us his love
He dressed in human flesh

Glory to God in the highest
And on earth, peace to men

The word descended
When midnight arrived
And the night saw the light
Contemplating such a poor God

Angels are heard singing
To Bethlehem go the shepherds

Oh, Bethlehem, home of bread
You are not the smallest
For the child in the manger
Is the king of heaven and earth
