At the stroke of midnight
The angels go to the portal
Their harps were golden
Their voices fine crystal

Resounds in the dark night
The echo of their singing
God's peace with men
Of good will

The Virgin weeps joyfully
Chaste Joseph smiles
They kiss the child
And the child laughs too
