El Cuatrero
Vicente Fernández
The Stallion
To a stallion of beautiful build
They changed his color
He won a ton of races
Running he was a gem, winning every time
He was the king of the land
That stallion was the master
He taught him how to win
But the horse was gentle
And he made him change too
And for the love of the kids, they both would triumph
Pretty my stallion, my dark one, Satan
Let’s fly, you know where you are
Now my dark one, don’t fall behind
And I have to buy your painted one
With a mortal wound
My horse was dying
Don Lázaro Malacara, that’s what he wanted
Here you end, little dark one
With my good aim
With tears in my eyes, I begged him
I said, don’t be ungrateful, you gain nothing by killing him
If you want, I’ll give you my life
Just take me instead
Bad face seeing my eyes
He just kept staring
I think it reached
His soul and he didn’t want to kill him anymore
And that noble horse
With time started healing
And in my pastures and hills, he runs with me, neighing
Don Lázaro Malacara ended up giving him to me
Pretty my stallion, my dark one, Satan
Let’s fly, you know where you are
Now my dark one, don’t fall behind
You have to take me with Mariana
