Los Mandados
Vicente Fernández
The Errands
I swam across the big river
Not giving a damn about two bucks
The border patrol kicked me out
And I ended up in Nogales
I crossed through another border
And they tossed me to Juárez
From there I headed to Tamaulipas
And snuck in through Laredo
I dressed up like a gringo
And dyed my hair blonde
And since I didn’t speak English
They sent me back again
The border patrol caught me
Three hundred times, let’s say
But they never broke me
They just did my errands
The hits they gave me
I made sure to collect from their folks
I entered through Mexicali
And came out at the Colorado River
I crossed all the lines
Smuggling and soaking wet
But I never backed down
I went back and forth to the other side
I know all the lines
The roads, rivers, and canals
From Tijuana to Reynosa
From Matamoros to Juárez
From Piedras Negras to El Paso
And from Agua Prieta to Nogales
The border patrol caught me
Three hundred times, let’s say
But they never broke me
They just did my errands
The hits they gave me
I made sure to collect from their folks
