Entre o céu e a chão

I heard you talk about a ground and a sky
like they were two boundaries
two comfy barriers
between which our lives unfold

I don’t know why,
I always have the feeling
that another sky and another ground
overlap, side by side
while the sun sets in one place
it rises on the other side
forcing life to grow

If we’re not blind
if we’re not deaf
if we’re open-minded
we can understand
that our interests
are multiple,
infinite
that overlap
and run parallel
in a constant multiplication
that makes us part of the world
and forbids us from only looking out for ourselves
while we’re here
between heaven and earth.
