A world of misfits
Spreads out on the cardboard
Embroidered with fine point
Like chest hairs
Country where the rejects
Are still loved
It's the somber region
Where light is forgiven
Because there go the people

On a tiny sofa
Tiny people pose
Some smile at the lens
Others count the minutes
Thin-faced critters
Peek through the blinds
And scavenger harpies
Lend claws to the altarpiece
While the devil makes the rounds

Through a dim attic
And in its dazzling wake
The darkness turns
What turned feathers into torch
Of shadowy apparitions?
What passion, what melody
Touched the human heart
To guide the hand
