Adoro A Mi Madre

Silvina Garre Silvina Garre

I Adore My Mother

I adore my mother
because she likes to sing
because she eats cherries
and loves sequins.

I adore my mother
because she dresses in blue
because she flies away at times
to intense times.

Because she chased away fear with her hands
and opened suitcases full of gifts
and didn't turn off the light until she saw me arrive,
until she saw me arrive.

I adore my mother
because she lets me be me
because she comes back to life
after so many wars.

I adore my mother
because in an act of love
she set me walking in the ranks
of a better world.

And because she is beautiful from head to toe
and taught me the value of beauty,
taught me the reality
of crying for love, of crying for love.

Mother, if you let me go I fall
they say that what they call heaven
looks like your eyes.

Mother, I don't want to be afraid
there is so much to see,
to walk, to do in the world.

I adore my mother
because she bursts with light
and spreads passions
over those gray streets.

I adore my mother
because she recycles pain
because she renews strength
from those scars.

And because she had the world in her hands
and was suspended in a few years
but tries to be reborn
every time the sun rises.

Mother if you let me go I fall
they say that what they call heaven
looks like your eyes.

Mother I don't want to be afraid
there is so much to see,
to walk, to do in the world
