A Profecia

Sérgio Lopes Sérgio Lopes

The Prophecy

He was wounded for our transgressions
He was crushed for our iniquities
The punishment that brought us peace was upon him
And by his wounds we are healed
Like a sheep silent before its shearers
He did not open his mouth

I can still hear the sound of the nails in his hands
And the expression of pain in his gaze
The silent tear, not for the pain
The rejection hurt much more
Did the hardened heart of a Jew
For being so radical in his law
Not understand that there on the cross
The prophecy was fulfilled
He died fulfilling the law, his true King

By his wounds we are healed
And if He is the very essence of love
He will never allow an innocent to suffer in vain
A death destined for his Lord
He who was sacrificed in Jerusalem
Was wounded and surrendered like a lamb
He is the promised Messiah, there's no use waiting
There will be no Calvary again

Did the hardened heart of a Jew
For being so radical in his law
Not understand that there on the cross
The prophecy was fulfilled
He died fulfilling the law, his true King

By his wounds we are healed
And if He is the very essence of love
He will never allow an innocent to suffer in vain
A death destined for his Lord
He who was sacrificed in Jerusalem
Was wounded and surrendered like a lamb
He is the promised Messiah, there's no use waiting
There will be no Calvary
There will be no Calvary
There will be no Calvary again
