I was the tin man
looking for the wizard of oz,
because I felt nothing
and wanted a heart.

I was smarter than the scarecrow,
I was much braver than my friend the lion.

But that didn't help me at all
that day when she left.

I'm a fool,
the most cowardly fool,
for not giving myself,
for not knowing how to love her,
and what irony
her goodbye unravels me
after being
the strong tin man.

I was the tin man
longing for a heart
without knowing I had it
until she broke it.
