La lámpara

The Lamp
Everything's going better than yesterday, the lamp looks good
New friends, more cash, and in demand
A lot of people talking shit about me, but I'm chillin' here
It's folks I’ve never seen in my damn life
They throw shade at those who are rising
'Cause they don’t even look at the ones below
And I get the price of climbing, I know it well
Now, family, I’m the one, cousin, uncle, that’s me
I know they come around to ask for a loan
Sorry, but no, I’m neither an ATM nor a bank
I needed help back in the day
And no one gave a damn, much less asked me
How much I needed to get by
Poverty ain't a good companion
To deal with it is tough, and not just anyone can
The caterpillar crawls, but one day it flies
The process begins, and it’s left alone
From one day to the next, everything changes, take note
My respect for life with its twists
And my respect for life with its twists
Common folks, we gotta be good to each other
The one who told me to fuck off came by and said hi
He thinks I forgot that he’s already forgiven
I don’t wanna look like a fool, but that shit doesn’t fly here
Fuck the past, it’s not welcome here
Learn that’s how life is, one day down, another up
It doesn’t cost you anything to treat people right
They thought I wouldn’t make it, and I told them: All good
I cut off negative people I had around
For a while, no one looked for me, then things turned around
And they came looking for me like they’d been there all along
I hold no grudges, I just ask for some space
'Cause I’ve got my team well-formed
Studying is meant to be a good employee
But I never applied myself in school
Some are okay with what they’ve been dealt
I chased my dream even if it was risky
Words are what keep me standing
And there’s no stubborn one who doesn’t succeed, proven.
