Uomini Soli

Pooh Pooh

Lonely Men

You meet them where people
Travel and go to make phone calls
With aftershave that smells of rain
And the twenty-four hours
Lost in the evening courier
In the comings and goings of a waitress
But why does evening come every day

Sometimes a man is alone
Because he has strange obsessions in his head
Because he's afraid of sex
Or for the craving for success
To write the novel he has inside
Because life has already cornered him
Or because in a fake world
He's a real man

God of cities and immensity
If you exist and have traveled more than us
Let's see if we can learn from this life
And maybe change it a bit before it changes us
Let's see if we can make ourselves loved as we are
Without forcing ourselves with neuroses and jealousies
Because this life knocks down and those who are knocked down
Sleep or die or make love

There are lonely men
For the thirst for adventure
Because they studied to be priests
Or for twenty years in prison
For mothers who never weaned them
For women who rejected and lost them
Or just because they are different

God of cities and immensity
If you exist and have traveled more than us
Let's see if we can change these women
And change them a bit for them and a bit for us
But God of cities and immensity
Maybe you are there and have no problems
But down here we are not in heaven and if a man
Loses his way, he's just a lonely man
