The Little House
Where do I come from, my friend?
From a little house I have down by the wheat field
From a tiny little house
For a pretty woman who wants to keep me company
It has some vines in front
Where the cicadas sing and the sun turns to dust
There's a porch out front
In the garden, a fountain
In the fountain, a snail
It's covered in ivy
And there's a jasmine in the garden that the walls have already covered
On the porch, a hammock, in the pen, a cow
And inside, my dog and me
Under a branch that covers it, the Virgin of Guadalupe
Is in the living room when you walk in
She watches over me when I sleep, keeps an eye on me when I'm sick
And helps me with the harvest
Further inside is the bed, smelling of broom
And as clean as you
I also have a canary, a mirror, and a wardrobe
That I got at the fair
Well, even though it's pretty
My little house is very charming, I feel when I see it, I don't know why
It's stuck in my head, that there's a lot of sadness there
I think it's because you're not around.
