Mi Potro Patas Blancas
Pedro Fernández
My White-Legged Colt
How sad my ranch looks
Without my white-legged colt
My dad used to ride him
And I would sit behind
Holding on to his waist
We'd ride along the edge
When I turned seven years old
The colt was my gift
"Now that you're a little man
And you're not bad at riding
Go run him in the plains
Just don’t wear him out"
But the nasty neighbors
From the Aguilillas ranch
Threw a lasso at him
Knocking me off my seat
And they took my colt
To the other side of the river
And I spent my days
Searching for what was mine
When my dad found out
He went to confront them
But since he was alone
He couldn’t handle the fight
And he came back without the colt
Also with a broken heart
No need to think of revenge
The punishment will come from above
But I won’t forget
What happened to my dad and my friend
I know I have no comfort now
But one day I’ll be strong
And if heaven doesn’t take care of it
I’ll make sure to settle the score myself
