Mi Potro Patas Blancas
Pedro Fernández
My White Hoofed Colt
How sad my ranch looks
Without my white-hoofed colt
My dad used to play with him
And I’d ride him on his back
Clinging to his waist
We’d skirt the canyon
When I turned seven years old
The colt was my gift
Since you’re a little man now
Come on
And riding, you’re not bad
Go run him in the plains
Just don’t wear him out
But the lousy neighbors
From the Aguilillas ranch
Threw a lasso on him
Tossing me off the saddle
And they took my colt
To the other side of the river
And I spent my days
Searching for what was mine
When my dad learned what happened
He went to confront them
But since he went alone
He couldn’t handle the fight
And he came back without the colt
Also with a broken heart
Don’t think about revenge
The punishment will come from above
But I won’t forget
What they did to my dad and my friend
I know I have no comfort now
But someday I’ll be strong
And if heaven doesn’t settle the score
I’ll make sure it gets done myself
