Only those who have tasted pain
Who have suffered, felt bitter
Seen the cross and life in real tones
Those who sought the right
But got lost in the wrong
Had to learn to start over

Only those who have lost in life know what it is to win
Because they found in defeat a reason to fight
And so they saw spring in autumn
Discovered that it is in conflict that life grows

That the verse has a reverse
That the right has a wrong side
That what is free has its price
That life has opposites
And longing is a place
That only those who have loved reach
And hatred is such a strange way of loving

That close has distances
That left has right
That the answer has a question
And the problem, a solution
And that love starts here
In the opposite within me
And shadows only exist when some light shines

Only those who knew how to doubt
Could finally believe
Saw without seeing and loved without imprisoning
Those who found themselves in little things
Learned to multiply
Discovered the gift of eternalizing

Only those who have forgiven in life know what love is
Because they learned that love is only love
If they have tasted some pain
And so they saw greatness in misery
Discovered that it is at the limit
That love can be born
