El Prisionero

The world is a prison
Where I was captive
Neither my father, nor my mother
Could get me out of there
Only Christ with his love
Paid for me on a cross.

The day he saved me
He took me out of a tavern
Where I was imprisoned
He went and broke the chains
He promised to make me happy
And give me eternal life.

The people who asked
Presented me with their love
It was pure hypocrisy
From that sinful world
Only my Christ found me
He was my liberator.

He loved this world so much
That he gave what he loved most
He sacrificed his beloved Son
For the love he felt
Towards a people without compassion
Who are still imprisoned.
