I looked sadness in the eyes and smiled
Even broken by the life I chose
From the window, I saw each season flee
Like the trees, I remain in the same place
In the fall, in the winter, I wait for spring to come

From the road, I wanted to return to where I started
From a distance, I saw joy and hope
From the crumbs we waste, we will make dinner
I would go back to try to warn myself

That the path will be dark
But that Christ is the light of the world
Let Him speak to you
Who you are

Let the Word undo you
Let it drown you in His grace
Only the cross will hide
Who you are not
