Um Certo Galileu

One day, by the sea
A young Galilean appeared
No one could imagine
That someone could love the way he loved
His simple way of talking
Touched the hearts of those who listened

And his name was Jesus of Nazareth
His fame spread and everyone came to see
The phenomenon of the young preacher
Who had so much love

On those beaches, in that sea
In that river, and at Zacchaeus' house
On that road, in that Sun
And the people listening to such beautiful stories
His friendly way of expressing himself
Filled the heart with such infinite peace

On those streets, on that ground
In that well and at Simon's house
On that grass, at dusk
The world saw the birth of peace and hope
His pure way of forgiving
Made the heart return to being a child

One day, to the court
Someone took the young Galilean
No one knew what was wrong
And the crime he did; what were his sins
His honest way of denouncing
Shook the position of some privileged ones

And they killed Jesus of Nazareth
And in the midst of thieves they put his cross
But man still fears Jesus
Who had so, so much love

Victorious, he rose
After three days, life He returned
Resurrected, he dies no more
He is with the Father
For He is the eternal Son
But He lives in every home
And where a fraternal heart is found

We proclaim Jesus of Nazareth
Glorious and triumphant God is with us
In Christ the reason for our Faith
And one day He will return!
