Se Me Fue
Myriam Hernández
It Slipped Away
It slipped away with the sun
Without a word, without a goodbye
I don’t remember her face or her voice
It slipped away with shyness
With the light of the sunset
Now I know I didn’t understand her right
It slipped away without a warning
I couldn’t be there for her
For her date with the darkness
I don’t know if she missed me
If, in the end, she forgave me
I just know she’s not here anymore
It slipped away so casually
One afternoon, just another day
So fleeting that I couldn’t forgive her
She looked at me, smiled
How was I supposed to know
That maybe her smile was a goodbye?
It slipped away without a warning
I couldn’t be there for her
For her date with the darkness
I don’t know if she missed me
If, in the end, she forgave me
I just know she’s not here anymore
It slipped away so naturally
Like a river flows to the sea
It slipped away from here to eternity
I don’t know if she missed me
If, in the end, she forgave me
I just know she’s not here anymore
What’s worse
Is that she won’t come back
