Our eyes are fixed on the Lord
Have mercy, O Lord have mercy!

I lift my eyes to you
Who dwell in the high heavens
As the eyes of slaves are fixed
On the hands of their master

As the eyes of maids are fixed
On the hands of their mistress
So our eyes are on the Lord
Until he has mercy on us

Have mercy, O Lord, have mercy
Enough of this contempt!
We are fed up with the scorn of the rich
And the disdain of the proud!
