To Vendo Kilombo Kilambola
Mestre Barrão
I'm Seeing Kilombo Kilambola
I'm seeing kilombo kilambola
Le le leô
I'm a Black man from the Bantu of Angola
(Black Nagô)
We were brought from Brazil
My family was torn apart
My mother was sold
To the master's plantation
My father died at the whipping post
From the overseer's lash
My brother has no ear
Because the overseer tore it off
In my mind I carry sadness
And in my body, so much pain
But one day
I escaped to the kilombo
With lots of fight and determination
I became a warrior of Zumbi
As time went by
I returned to the plantation
Kicked all the slaves free
And burned the slave quarters
Freedom wasn't written on paper
Nor given by the princess
Whose name is Isabel
Freedom was made with grit and pain
Lots of struggle and battle is what set us free
I'm seeing kilombo kilambola
Le le leô
I'm a Black man from the Bantu of Angola
Black Nagô
