Declínio

Decline

And saw the woman that the tree was good for food
Pleasant to the eyes and desirable for gaining wisdom
She took of its fruit and ate
And gave some to her husband, who also ate

Our journey now takes us to the darkest and most sorrowful step
The path we took towards the highest knowledge of the entire universe
Reveals its coldest moment, come closer

Not many feet tread this ravine
It’s not inviting, it’s not pleasant
But it’s necessary to go through this chapter, so
Come closer
Look closely

Everything that was perfect
All harmony and peace
Is tragically devastated on the day the first couple lets themselves be led by the desire of their eyes
With their eyes wide open, willingly assuming no consequence would come
Adam throws everything away
Eve followed the serpent, Adam followed Eve, and no one followed God
At that exact moment, humanity met its closest companions through the ages: shame and guilt
Burdened by such feelings, Adam runs, Adam hides on his own, Adam dresses himself
Behold the nature of sin, behold what it does most cruelly, it hastily drives man away from God
With vain thoughts, it convinces the weak being that he can hide, can dress, can rely on himself
And unless God immediately provides a cure and calls the sinner back,
He endlessly flees from God, justifying himself with lies, piling sin upon sin until he reaches blasphemy and despair
Finally, the sinful person would rather accuse God than acknowledge his own sin
Because this is exactly the nature of sin, it doesn’t allow the poor soul to flee back to God
But rather forces it to flee far from God, tirelessly away.

The beautiful has become bizarre
The colors have lost their shine
And perfect creatures have had their core corrupted by evil
A deadly disease has taken hold of all humanity
Subjecting creation to the most terrible suffering and agony
And at this moment, the man who was once the target of all goodness and provision from God becomes the target of His burning wrath
Guilty of straying from the moral standard of the creator, man has wandered through the corridors of history like a fugitive, dead in his sins
Born from the corrupted seed of Adam, radically depraved
They don’t ask for God nor wish to know Him
They have no idea of their own dying condition
Since all are in darkness, no one can come to a full knowledge of themselves without a light being lit
An illness with severely deadly consequences that affects the poor and the rich, men from all tribes, on the most distant islands, from the most inhospitable mountains, in the most remote times, this plague has always been there, where there was a man to breathe, there was sin, there was guilt, there was fear
It was in the actions of a man who shied away from loyalty, in the thoughts of a woman who fed her deadliest desire, in the words of a blasphemer, in the blood, in the soul of a little one
Through one man sin entered the world, and now what is born of the flesh is flesh, by nature children of wrath, cultivators of the most arrogant enmity against God

Those who are the most pious among us
Those who have a good reputation
Those who spend their days in quiet observation
These are still as guilty before God as the cruelest murderer, the depraved, and the oppressors
Because what makes us despicable is not what we’ve done, it’s what we are
We are children of Adam, born under the condemnation that was upon him
So holy and pure is our judge that before Him the best of us smells bad and is rotten
His moral standard is unattainable for us
He is pure in eyes and cannot see evil
Whoever stumbles at one point of His law is guilty of all the law
And the soul that sins shall die
For the wages of sin is death
We cannot hide forever
God will judge the secrets of men
The most remote thoughts
And because of His just justice, the wicked will be cast into hell, they will go to eternal punishment for nothing contaminated will ever enter heaven
Run for your lives, dress in the finest linen
Hide behind smiles and pretend your joys
Have fun with what is a lie and all of you forget the truth
Set up circuses, dance, drink and eat, inflame yourselves in your passions and then hide
Hide your convictions in the intellectual speeches of pure insanity
Close your eyes to the chaos
Look in the mirror and convince your soul
Convince it that you are safe under the aim of God’s precise arrow and even safer
Say that the truth is a lie
Say that you know nothing
Lock the door to misery and cruelty
That insist on witnessing these truths
Yes, smile
But if all this doesn’t seem right to you, join those who have given up
There are still those who have been convinced by the grace of God
For these humans, the light has finally been lit
They cannot deny, they can no longer hide
Join these poor men and simply throw yourself to the ground convinced that you cannot free yourself from this condition, this condemnation
Throw yourself to the ground like a poor man from the past and say:
Have mercy on me, God!
Be gracious to me.
