Encruzilhada

You stopped at a crossroads
And from the journey you gave up
You halted your travel, set down your baggage
You lacked courage and did not proceed

Your companions were persistent
They pressed on without looking back
Some have already reached their destination
And are already heirs to the Father's kingdom

Just like you, I know there are many
Who did not go along, for the cross weighed heavily
But Jesus returned, seeing your failure
He took you in his arms and carried the cross

And He illuminated your entire path
Removed the thorns, drove away evil
There is no pain that doesn't ease
When the breeze comes in a strong tempest

You will feel reassured
Because by your side the Shepherd is
And He leads ahead with His staff
Without worry you will walk

And when you arrive in paradise
To see again the friends who passed before you
You will say to your companions
Thanks to the Lamb, I too have conquered
