Every time I read the story of Christ
I can't help but think, with great emotion
Of the privilege that many had
To see His face, to feel His hand

I would also have the same joy
To see Him up close, right next to me
To look into His calm and gentle eyes
Oh, how happy I would be like that!

I wish I knew what His face looked like
Though I feel it must have been so beautiful
It inspired faith and also trust
And brought everyone endless joy

Seeing the pictures from painted frames
Of what they say is my Lord
My soul can't accept what's on the canvas
The painter's inspiration is false

Full of bitterness, a face of pain
I believe in a Christ with a joyful face
I believe in the Christ who is a victor

And one day too, I will see Him face to face
