La Temporada Es Buena

What a sad December is passing by
I heard two city folks talking
They saw my humble clothes
Thought the poor don’t have Christmas

I told them, I live out here in the country
And the smoke in the city makes me want to cry
The air feels different to me
I prefer the countryside, living naturally

Yes, sir, the season is good
I enjoy all year round, not just at Christmas
I have a real tree out here in the country
You have an artificial pine in your house
My tree is lit by the Moon and the stars
And you have to buy your little lights

Then I mentioned that the gifts
For New Year and Three Kings bring us happiness
You just have to watch out for people
Who sometimes give us gifts, just to ask for more

They said, what a philosophy, for a country guy
For an older man
Life teaches you many things
That you never learn in college
