La Traición
Los Sabandeños
The Betrayal
Let's go back to Hernán Peraza
Who is blindly in love
He has spent all his efforts
In case he can hunt him down
Always plotting evil schemes
He organized a banquet
And invited Hupalupu
To his palace of tea
Where things get complicated
As it was later seen
He had many guests
To whom he gave lamb
With exquisite delicacies
And flavored wine
They are all still in high spirits
And he offered Hupalupu
A cup into which he poured
A narcotic with wine
That made him lose his temper
And he fell lethargic
The count, when he saw him
Was happy and pleased
He mounted a light horse
And went to Yballa's house
She appeared at the door
But soon she hid
When she recognized the count
Who was calling her with cries
Yballa did not answer
Nor did she open, nor did she respond
When the old man awoke
From his deep lethargy, he exclaimed
My God, how bitter!
When he thought of his daughter
That this vile man could come
To harm her honor
Oh God, what cruel pain
I would harbor In my soul!
I would take revenge
Against that infamous traitor!
