El Desembarco
León Gieco
The Landing
There are those who resist and never complain
Those who say: What am I living for?
Those who quickly regain their strength
Those who profit from what I've lost
Some succumb and rise again
Some stay there, always lying down
Some help you take off, and those who never
Recognize you when you're defeated
How many think it's too late for everything?
And how many shout: Always forward!
How many see the stone in the path
And how many never see anything at all?
Joy feeds on strength
And there are no walls or fences that can hold it back
There are those who land burning with a shout
Without ships and without weapons for life
May someone bless this beautiful communion
Of those who think alike
We are the few, we were never the first
We don't kill or die to win
Rather, we are alive to keep moving
Waiting for a new skin from this sun
We don't pretend to see the change
Just to have left something
On the path we've walked that has passed
It's normal now to see kids without shoes
Searching for food in the trash
And the church door is a postcard
Of that mother with her child
While this goes on, there will be no glory
It's sand slipping through fingers
It's pain, it's lies, it's hypocrisy
It's a fragile time of these days
Ignorance can sometimes conquer a people
And tyrants and executioners win
We believe history was made in a minute
And all we've lived is a bad dream
Sometimes we are our own enemies
We dirty the roads and the rivers
We kill in war, and on the streets today we have
Old monuments of murderers
May someone bless this beautiful communion
Of those who think alike
We are the few, we were never the first
We don't kill or die to win
Rather, we are alive to keep moving
Waiting for a new skin from this sun
We don't pretend to see the change
Just to have left something
On the path we've walked that has passed
There are those who land burning with a shout
Without ships and without weapons for life
