The land is asleep and the sun is already waking it up
and slowly brings the day
the cart goes up slowly pulled by gentle oxen

Holy stone paths in white
lilac flowers as they pass by
on the old cart farmers go to work

They know that at twelve a bell will ring
and sadly they will come where there is little bread
and with wine from the valley they will joyfully sing

The sun burns their skin and strength very strongly
