Ser Brigada
León Benavente
Being a Squad
They met in the park in '92
She wore a floral dress
He looked like a tortured soul
And among people who get bored of everything fast
And folks who never finish anything
They decided to spend the nights together
And be more than a couple, be a squad
And it happened like this
They stole a R5
And drove off looking for warmth
They reached the Almería desert that day
Covered in all the sea's mist
They climbed the highest mountain
And shouted their names on repeat
They lit the fuse on fireworks
That left them blinded by the lights
And they felt the road slipping away
And that they weren’t anywhere yet
That it was the cars and the trees
The only things pushing them forward
And it happened like this
She said, I’ll count to three
And if we haven’t stopped by then
Nothing will hold us back
One, two
It could’ve been magic
When they turned into beasts
He into a fierce wolf and she into a crested bird
Bad news came from all over the world
And all they cared about was being happy as wild things in their hideout
And it happened like this
She used to sing when he lacked courage
They created their own symphony and melody
It could be heard from Lisbon to Perpignan
From La Coruña to Gibraltar
From Madrid
She used to look at the sky like it was a Goya noir
What’s the point of fighting if we’ll never make history?
And they saw that even flowers have their decaying side
Let this bouquet of roses rot
But not before you, Mr. President
And it happened like this
New ideas came, which weren’t new but recycled
Modern people weren’t modern anymore but outdated
What for, what for go back?
What for? When there’s so much more
Than what we always wanted to have
