Lord, I kneel
To ask for guidance
Here’s the people
That I need to lead
But I’m young and limited
And I don’t know what to do.
I’m human and unable
To fulfill your will.

My request is for your direction
I want an open heart
Receptive to your hand
I don’t want fame or riches
I don’t want applause or greatness
Since I can choose
Humbly I ask you
I want the light of your wisdom.

Lord, you’ve guided us
Through generations
I plead for discernment
For wise decisions
Illuminate my mind
For perfect is your thought
Teaching your servant
To know how to listen to you.
