Ouço o Som

I hear the sound of the hammer hitting the nails
I hear the sound of blasphemies from angry men
I hear the sound of Jesus panting and distressed
I even hear cruel executioners' laughter
Mockeries of unfaithful men

I hear the sound of Mary sobbing at His feet
I hear the sound of thunder and lightning protesting
I hear the sound of Earth tremors, the Sky enraged
I hear the sound!

I hear the sound of anguish, pain, and groans
I hear the sound of hope for lost men
I see the Father with His torn heart
For being separated from Jesus, what a mystery

But from death sprang new life
Tragedy bursts into joy
Salvation has come to the sinner

I see then, the whole Universe contemplates
Its God deprived of glory and beauty
I even see the agony of the spectators
As they witness this strong and brutal scene
The attack of evil forces

I see there, the disciples in despair
For Jesus, their Master, the True Bread
Was dead and His blood flows on that wood
What pain!

Listen to the voice calling you from the Calvary cross
It's Jesus who paid such a necessary price
He says: Son, I gave myself completely
And suffered for true, infinite love!

I died to give you life
A full life that never ends
Within reach of those who accept it!
