Get dressed and go, or rather, run
But I just told it to screw off

And the weather’s been lucky, it’s been raining for four days
Though the radio said it’d be hot, even in the shade
But, anyway, in that shade, where I am
It’s still dry and warm, but I’m scared for now
And the days keep rolling by, we eat one day, drink three
And we’re living it up, even though it’s raining outside
The tape recorder’s broken
I’m sitting in silence, which I’m actually quite happy about

Outside, there’s construction, a crane is working
And the restaurant around the corner has been closed for five years
And on the table, there’s a jar
And in the jar, a tulip, and on the window, a glass
And so the years will pass, life will go on
And for the hundredth time, the sandwich will fall butter-side down
But maybe there’ll be at least a day
Maybe there’ll be at least an hour when we’ll get lucky
