I wanted to cut the most tender flower
from the rosebush,
thinking that out of love
it couldn't prick me,
and while it pricked me
it taught me one thing
that a rose is a rose is a rose…
And when I opened my hand
and let it fall
tears started to bleed
the sores on my skin
and with its petals
it healed them tenderly
