Allá En Los Olivos
José Ocampo
There in the Olives
There in the olives, a prayer was heard
From a man kneeling in humble prayer
In it, he implored the divine Father
The anguish was bitter in His heart
When His prayer ends with weeping
He returns to His own, wakes them up
The hour has come, my soul is sad
Death is approaching, rise up now
In solitude, in that bitter agony
He gave Himself for His love
Only there, with His brow bleeding and crying
Was Jesus
In solitude, in that bitter agony
He gave Himself for His love
Only there, with His brow bleeding and crying
Was Jesus
While He was still speaking, the crowd approaches
They come to arrest Him like a criminal
Roman soldiers with clubs and swords
Are led by Judas, the traitor
Thus He was taken to the cross of Calvary
And on it, the sin of humanity
His last phrases very choppy
Forgive them, Father, all their wickedness
In solitude, in that bitter agony
He gave Himself for His love
Only there, with His brow bleeding and crying
Was Jesus
In solitude, in that bitter agony
He gave Himself for His love
Only there, with His brow bleeding and crying
Was Jesus
