El Coyote

The Coyote
I painted a four on the coyote
And headed for the mountains
The coyote was a bandit
Born back in my hometown
I knew him since we were kids
We went to school together
In the first lessons
It was clear what he was up to
Because he sang songs, fighting with his guitar
And even if he lost hope, he never cried with his eyes
That night in May
He liked my Maria Elena
But I arrived on horseback
I already had a date with her
When I came down from the mountains
I faced the coyote
And holding Maria Elena
I said she’s got a man now
Because in the sacred chapel
The priest from the hills married us
He hung his head
And left like a coward
But since he was a coyote
He turned back on me suddenly
He was looking for my back
But I found him in the forehead
Coyote, proud coyote
Who didn’t respect love
Could’ve been a good friend
But your betrayals got you killed
