Caminando Por La Vida

Walking Through Life
I'm walking through life
Seeking how to smile
Always looking for a way out
Looking to be happy
And all those scars
That fill you with experience today
That's not learnt in books
The sciences don't teach it, either
For the women who suffer
For the men who work
I write verses of hope
May God illuminate their dwellings
I would like to see my Puerto Rican walk
And for education to be the seed of peace
May the leaders walk with their people
Not with their grandeur, above them
May color and religion not divide you
Nor let the outer shell be what defines
And depression will destroy my town
With its inhabitants for discontent
Reach out your hand to your brother who's fallen
Don't get up, you feel defeated
Jump-over the prejudices of that heart
For life is too short to live with resentment
For sexual preferences
They kill another human being
Forgetting that he is a son, who is also a brother
To the family, that is the most vital nucleus
A man who understands that a woman is for loving
And to his friends, betrayal is not a help
If we continue like this, we'll never get out of this hatred
Let life hurt us
May mothers no longer cry
May children grow up healthy
Let songs be born from love
I would like to see my Puerto Rican walk
And for education to be the seed of peace
May the leaders walk with their people
Not with their grandeur, above them
May life not hurt us
May mothers no longer cry
May children grow up healthy
Let songs be born from love
May life not hurt us
May mothers no longer cry
May children grow up healthy
Let songs be born from love
Let the songs be born
