I ask for clarity to enlighten me on this day
that I must sing persistently for the light of truth,
I demand the freedom of my Latin America,
also for the divine peace that consciousness deserves
I demand for the insanity of this petty battle
in my Latin America, oh, America.

Facing looting and abandonment
our response is life.
Neither plagues, nor famines,
nor floods, nor cataclysms,
not even the eternal wars
through the centuries
have managed to diminish the tenacious advantage
of life over death
in my Latin America.

I demand for the word that is forbidden to say
when the one who wants to lie
is protected by the macabre law,
I demand for the opening
of the way for the exiled
innocently stripped
of their land without rights,
I finally demand for the fact
of living chained
in my Latin America, oh, my America.
