A mighty fortress is our God
A shield and good sword
With His power He defends His own
His beloved church

With strength and with fury, the tempter tests us
With such schemes, and infernal cunning
There is none like him on earth

Our own strength does nothing, we are lost
But our God brings help and we are protected
Jesus defends us, the one who conquered on the cross

Lord of the highest heavens
Who, being God Himself
Triumphs in battle

Yes, the Word will remain
We know for certain
For it will help us with defensive weapons

If we have to lose, family, possessions, power
And even if life goes, Jesus is with us
